FREEWe are excited to have a presentation from representatives of the City of Edmonton’s Gender-Based Violence & Sexual Assault Prevention Initiative:
- Lisa Federspiel: Social Planner with the City of Edmonton Gender-Based Violence & Sexual Assault Prevention Council Initiative. The Initiative joined the UN Women Safe Cities Safe Public Spaces flagship program in 2016 – questions Lisa grapples with include what would it mean for Edmonton to be a safe city? For women and girls in all of their diversity to freely and fully participate in public life? How do we best engage men and boys in ending gender-based violence, what does effective awareness/ public education look like? With a Masters in Public Administration (Dispute Resolution), Lisa’s background in conflict transformation, social services, diversity and inclusion and sexualized violence support the work and the goal – which is to end gender-based violence (in all of its forms) in Edmonton.
- Michelle Holubisky is a Community Building Social Worker with the Family Violence Prevention Team, under Citizen Services for the City of Edmonton.
