CIAFV January Member’s Meeting

Please join us January 20 at 1:30 at the United Way for a panel discussion from Dr. Lisa Buys from Forensic Assessment Community Services (FACS) and Wendy Rhyason from Edmonton Family Violence Centre.

Wendy is the Executive Director of the Edmonton Family Violence Centre (EFV). She has a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Provisional Psychologist. She has over 10 years of experience as a therapist and has worked for a number of social service agencies. Prior to entering the mental health field, Wendy’s background was in business and financial management. Wendy has been married for 35 years and has three grown children, 4 dogs and 3 cats. She lives in Edmonton during the week and on the weekend returns to her home in the country south of Camrose.

The Edmonton Family Violence Centre offers treatment programs for males and females that commit acts of domestic violence. Wendy’s role as Executive Director is to oversee the agency operations, advocate for clients, manage the Changing Ways treatment program and to provide individual, couples and family counselling.

Dr. Lisa Buys Ph.D., R. Psych. is a forensic psychologist working at the Forensic unit at the Alberta Hospital Edmonton in the Forensic Assessment and Community Services (FACS) for adults section.

The FACS program is a part of Alberta’s health care system and have close ties to the judicial and correctional systems. Clients are individuals who have come into conflict with the law and have mental health issues.
