$20Stories and Songs of Human Trafficking Survivors
Ken Stead, along with six actors, and fellow local musicians Erin Kay, Martin Kerr, and Dana Wylie will bring to life on stage the stories of survivors of this extraordinarily complex and underground crime through song and powerful monologues.
When Edmonton-based singer-songwriter Ken Stead first learned that human trafficking was a frightening reality happening in his own backyard, he felt an incredible need to get involved with an organization called ACT Alberta (Action Coalition on Human Trafficking Alberta Association).
ACT Alberta assists the victims of labour trafficking who have been exploited in agriculture,
construction, retail, restaurants, hotels, and nail salons, and in private homes as nannies. They have also assisted victims of trafficking who have been exploited in the commercial sex trade and in gangs. ACT Alberta works collaboratively with the RCMP and local law enforcement, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to identify and respond to human trafficking in Alberta.
