Professor Joanna Harrington
Thursday, September 14, 2017
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Enterprise Square | 10230 Jasper Avenue
Room 2-520

Bills of rights, by their nature, contain abstract statements of guarantee that inevitably require interpretation when applied to specific facts and policies. Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms is no different in this respect. Join Professor Joanna Harrington as she explains the techniques of interpretation developed by the courts to determine the content of the Charter’s guarantees. She will also tackle the question of how much use should be made of foreign law when interpreting a national statement of Canada’s most enduring values.

This event is free & open to the public. Register here (to help us estimate attendance)
