Today Family Violence Help Centre adds one new front-line staff…
Una Levesque is a passionate, self-proclaimed feminist, with a career devoted to social justice and family violence. Una’s passion for education and prevention in the field of women and violence lead to her the position of Ethno-Cultural Family Violence Specialist at the Today Centre, assisting diverse and vulnerable populations new to Canada with Family Violence concerns.
Una has much experience in the human services field. Most recently, Una worked with a local program, Lives in Transition, educating women leaving intimate partner violence on a variety of workplace topics. Previously, Una counselled and advocated for women (individually and in groups) in a Stopping the Violence Program, funded through the Ending Violence Association, of British Colombia. With this position she was a member of Fernie, BC’s ICAT (Interagency Case Assessment Team) initiative, working closely with the RCMP, Victim Services, Ministry of Children and Family Development, Probation and Housing services, on high risk family violence cases. Una has also managed a Government Funded Employment Assistance Program, overseeing a staff of dedicated employment counsellors and a variety of employment related education and programming.
We are so thankful to have Una as our Ethno-cultural Family Violence Specialist. Una can be reached at 780-455-6880 or [email protected].
